Making Your RV Feel More Like A Home Away From Home
When you first drive your RV off the lot, it’s not exactly ready to showcase your unique personality. If you want your rig to feel more like a home on wheels and less like a cookie-cutter RV, just follow the tips below and you can add those touches of you to your RV.
Replace valances with curtains
Valences, especially those that come already installed in your RV can sometimes make your RV feel more like an “RV” and less like a home. By adding in curtains, you can get that homey feel. You wouldn’t imagine how much of a change adding in curtains can make. You can add in the curtain rod or you could simply hang them with command hooks. Are the curtains longer than you would want them to be and you don’t want to sew them? You could use fabric tape, a fabric seal, or even staples to get the job done.
Add some rugs
Most RVs come with laminate flooring. This flooring is easy to clean and maintain, yes, but it’s also hard and cold. Unless you like waking up to a cold, hard floor, I would recommend adding in some rugs. By placing a rug in your kitchen, bathroom, living room, or other space, you can spruce it up while adding comfort. Rugs are also easier to clean than carpet, as they can be moved, shaken out, or washed.
Paint the walls and/or cabinets
If you’re daring enough to paint your RV’s walls or cabinets, you’ll find an amazing payoff. This project can drastically change the appearance of your RV. By painting the walls white, you can add more visual space or by painting the walls a calm blue or green color, you can create a peaceful, soothing atmosphere. Even painting one wall can make a world of difference.
Throw pillows and blankets
One of the easiest and best ways to make your space feel more like home is by adding in throw pillows and blankets. Just like your bed, a couch without pillows and blankets isn’t exactly cozy. Adding in these touches of color and texture also adds visual interest and helps to connect the decor of your walls, rug, or other decorations.
Hang wall decor
Hanging wall decor is a classic way to make your space more comfortable and personalized. Whether it’s the classic hanging picture or whether it’s a tapestry or wall decal, adding in those personal touches to your walls can make the difference between an RV that you just got off the lot and your home away from home.
Keep it tidy
Last but not least, keeping your RV tidy lets you enjoy your RV more, giving you space to move and room to breathe. An unkept RV can feel tight and claustrophobic and having all of your belongings out can make it seem a little overwhelming. By keeping a clean interior, you can feel calmer and more relaxed, able to appreciate the amazing effort you’ve put into designing your RV.
