And one place often overlooked for protecting against all that is the underbelly. There’s many delicate parts (including your flooring and frame) and they’re not always well protected. There is one thing to consider when looking to protect the underbelly, and that is whether your rig is stationary or used for travel. Why is this an important distinction to make? Because the material you use to protect your underbelly differs depending on how you use your rig. Some materials are good for protection, but can’t stand up to the rigors of road travel. And putting that material on your RV would defeat the purpose of buying something for underbelly protection.

Extreme-duty corrugated plastic underbelly material is perfect for over the road use. Its corrugated plastic sheeting (referred to in the industry as twinwall, Coroplast, Polyflute, Corriflute, Proplex, etc.) and is an extruded plastic sheet made of a high-impact polypropylene resin. The construction of this sheet makes it resistant to water, oils, and many chemicals that you will encounter while you are out there on the road. It works as an excellent insulating material on the base of the framework to keep heat/cold in, and the harsh elements out. Its lightweight construction makes it easy to cut and install. This material is static dissipative, heat resistant, and helps with sound dampening in your RV.

Polyethylene underbelly material is one of the standard materials used as the base protectant for underbellies since the 1980s. It has a flex-weave backing on an ultra-durable plastic tarp surface. Its resistance to harsh environmental conditions such as wind, water, frost, frigid temperatures, and extreme heat are why it has become an industry mainstay. This material is best for stationary RVs and mobile homes.
