Keeping your RV well ventilated can be tough sometimes, especially on hot, stagnant summer days. If you aren't connected to shore power, you don't want to use your air conditioning, as this will eat up your power reserves quickly. Instead, what many people use is an RV roof vent fan. These fans help keep moisture, smells, and more from staying inside of your rig and making it feel stiff and stuffy. Because they circulate the air, they can also often replace your air conditioner and drastically cool down your rig. What most people forget, though, is that an RV roof vent is also extremely useful in the colder months. Moisture is not something you want inside of your rig when it's freezing out. One of the great things about camper vents is that no matter what temperature you're using them in, they don't use a lot of amps. Relying on the 12-volt battery, they can pull a lot of air around your space while keeping your power usage down. When looking for an RV roof fan, there are several things to consider, from the options it includes (remotes, multiple speeds, rain sensors, reversible blades, etc.) to the size you're looking for to how much noise you're willing to stand. There are also certain brands that stand out for their high-quality vent fans, with Fantastic Fans standing at the top.

In addition to being an amazing RV roof fan, Fantastic Fans are also super easy to clean. The mesh covering that keeps materials from entering or exiting your RV can be removed by popping it off from the pull tab, rinsing it off, and simply popping it back into place. For the blades, simply turn the fan off and wipe off the clear blades with a damp cloth.
How to Install a Fantastic Vent
When replacing an existing vent with the 12-volt wiring nearby, the installation is pretty simple.
- Remove the inside vent garnish.
- Disconnect any wiring from the existing vent
- Remove the caulk away from the screws around the perimeter of the vent flange on the roof.
- Remove the screws and carefully insert a putty knife in between the vent flange and the roof material. Gently pry up on the vent.
- Once the vent is removed, clean up the area around the vent.
- Once the area is clean, apply new butyl around the flange of the Fantastic Fan and insert it into the center of the opening in the roof.
- Fasten the Fantastic Fan to the roof with screws and caulk all screw heads and around the perimeter of the vent.
- Connect the wiring to the preexisting setup.
- Fasten the interior garnish ring to the ceiling by fastening it in with screws.
- Make sure to test your Fantastic Fan before leaving for your trip.
