First, you can upgrade your sleeping area. Your mattress is the most important part of your bed, which is why it's important to get the right kind. Our mattresses are moisture-wicking, antibacterial, naturally cooling, and made with memory foam. These properties are amazing for sleeping when it comes to RV beds. Keeping your area cool and dry is one of the best ways to sleep, not only in RV beds but in bedrooms in general, and the antibacterial property lets you go longer without washing the mattress. The memory foam is also a huge help when it comes to making your bed. Keeping good airflow is also important, as it keeps the temperature down and circulates fresh air throughout the cabin. Lighting should also be considered, whether it's from any windows near the bed, the lights in the room, or phone or TV screens. Basically, the less light you see while and before you sleep, the better your sleep will be. Finally, the bedding and pillows you have will make a big difference. Make sure to buy breathable and comfortable bedding and make sure your sheets and pillows are in good shape. If you want more support from your mattress, consider investing in a mattress pad or topper.
Second, it's important to consider your schedule before going to bed. Having a steady sleep schedule can be difficult while you're on vacation, however, it’s a great way to get a consistent amount of good sleep. Also, try not to drink alcohol right before bed, as it could mess with your body's response to sleep. Even before the sun sets, you can help to improve your sleep. By making sure your RV is level and supported, you can be sure that your RV won't tip or sway during the night and by setting up camp with your bed as far as you can from the road, you can have less noise around you while you sleep. If you are still surrounded by noise, consider getting a white noise machine or a fan.
When it comes to finding the right place to set up your bed, you might not have many options inside your RV. If you're short on space, there are many things you can do or buy that can help you in this struggle for space. You could buy a convertible bed, like a hide-a-bed or a jackknife sleeper sofa, to save space during the day and give you a comfortable sleeping area at night. With our great options, you have comfortable cloth, long-lasting durability, and thick padding to help you sleep like a baby through the night. A plus for these beds is that they also work great for having guests over. Simply convert the couch and there you go! An extra bed without the extra clutter! Next, it's important to get a mattress that’s specifically designed for an RV. Typical stationary home mattresses are made for longer beds and if you try to fit them to your RV bed frame, they will be too long. Our mattresses are designed to fit the sizes of RV beds while giving you the comfort of a typical well-made mattress. If you've got the right size of bed and are still lacking in storage, investing in bedside tables and caddies, under bed storage, and other organizational tech is a great way to go. There are a ton of bags, boxes, and gadgets designed to make use of every inch of room available and they work great for the bedroom as well.
In a stationary home, making the bed isn't most peoples' favorite chore. In an RV, this struggle is made worse by the small space. Luckily, there are a few tips to help make this chore less of a struggle. First, try layering the sheets. This works great if you've got small kids who like to make messes in the bed. This also works great if you don't like attaching that fitted sheet every time you need to clean the sheets. Simply remove the outer sheet and reveal the next one in line! Second, try using a dowel rod or a ruler to get the sheets in the space between the wall and bed. That small space is tight and it's hard to get your hand in there to push down the sheet. Using a thin, flat tool to do it for you takes the trouble out of it. If you have smaller mattresses, you could try a mattress case, which is like a pillowcase for your bed. This case is so much easier to attach than a fitted sheet and you don't have to worry about it popping off in the night if your kids are restless sleepers. If the sheets are still coming off and you don't want to have to make them every day, consider switching to a sleeping bag. They're comfortable, secure, and super easy to adjust. Just fold them out and there you go! As for larger beds, consider switching to a memory foam mattress, as they are much easier to make than a typical mattress or the factory-made mattress that came with your RV. If your bed is close to a wall, you could add tiles under the feet to help it slide away, giving you an easier angle to reach that side of the bed.
If you've removed the sheets and decided that the whole bed needs cleaned, there are several steps to take. First, throw the sheets in the wash. If you can't wash the comforter, you can throw a bit of baking soda on it to soak up some of the moisture before shaking it out. Next, sprinkle baking soda over the mattress and let it sit for a few minutes. After that time has passed, vacuum up the baking soda. Finally, wipe down the bed frame with a non-corrosive cleaner, like our 303 cleaner, which doesn’t leave behind residue or streaks.
RV beds can be a tough chore to maintain but we hope with these tips, tricks, and excellent products, you can spend less time worrying and more time relaxing.
