Description

RecPro 3800 Air Conditioner Specifications.

When spring and summer come around, your RV air conditioner can mean the difference between staying cool or suffering in a humid swamp of your own sweat. To most people, sitting around in their own sweat amidst sweltering heat doesn't sound like a great way to spend a vacation, nor does having to listen to the loud and irritating hum of an air conditioner. This ends up being quite the conundrum for many RV lovers - deal with the whine and stay cool, or suffer the heat so you can hear your TV. With the help of RecPro, you won't have to make that choice, and it's all thanks to our quiet and power-efficient RV air conditioners!

Why choose a RecPro RV Air Conditioner?

It may seem like a simple question to ask, but there are numerous reasons why a RecPro RV air conditioner stands above the competition. For starters, these are a far cry from other cheap and junky RV AC units on the market. Other models are often constructed out of cheap and flimsy plastic that's been molded to the shape of the unit. RecPro air conditioners are designed with a high-quality and time-tested plastic material that offers the exceptional strength needed to withstand the fury of the great outdoors. Where cheaper RV AC units may melt in hot climates or crack in colder areas, a RecPro RV air conditioner will last you for countless adventures.

Easy Control

Included with this RecPro RV air conditioner model is a handy remote control, giving you easy access and control over the temperature and settings of the RV AC unit without even needing to get up from your favorite chair. You don't have to worry about losing it either, as the included wall holder provides an easy way to store your remote when you don't need it. But, just in case, you can also control the air conditioner via the digital display on the inner plenum.

Dry Mode

An RV AC unit from RecPro offers a variety of great features, but one of the most enjoyable is the dry mode. This feature helps you dry the air inside your RV. This is a great feature to have, especially if you are camping out in hot areas with moist air. In dry mode, the fan will run faster than normal to cycle more air through your RV. As the air cycle, moisture in the air collects on the air conditioner coils and drains out through the drain holes, giving clean, fresh, cool, and dry air wherever you go.

Water Path Diagram - Excess Water is pumped away from your roof and drains through a plumbing-ready drainbuilt in condensate pumpRV AC Condensation Pump

This RV air conditioner is equipped with a special feature; a condensation pump. The condensation pump takes all that condensation your air conditioner builds up and directs it to the bottom of your RV for drainage, making this quiet air conditioner perfect for RVs with pre-existing condensation pump tubing. Thanks to this feature, you can avoid unsightly water streaks and stains running down the side of your RV, where air conditioner condensation typically drains. In other words, you can stay cool and comfy while keeping your RV looking pristine and beautiful!

Accurate Temperature Control

Another fantastic feature you ought to take note of is the integrated temperature monitoring system. This is a great boon to those who may enjoy sleeping with the AC on. As those who have done such a thing may confirm, you can often end up waking up in a room that feels freezing cold since our bodies are naturally cooler as we sleep. Thankfully, the temperature monitoring system in this RV air conditioner prevents such chilly morning occurrences by monitoring the surrounding air and making adjustments to meet whatever temperature you set it to. That way, you can remain comfortable throughout the night.

Improved Air Quality

Many air conditioners lose a bit of temperature and air quality. This occurs because many RV AC units blow air from the top of the unit out through the bottom without anything to direct the flow of that air. This RecPro RV air conditioner features a directional tube, providing optimal temperature quality and air cleanliness.

Heat Pump Efficiency

Most other RV air conditioners and heaters are inefficient at heating the air, as they use inferior heat strips. Air conditioners and heaters equipped with a heat strip simply blow cold air over a strip of heating element, which does not warm the air efficiently, especially at higher fan speeds. At RecPro, our air conditioners are equipped with a highly efficient heat pump, which takes in cold air and cycles it until it reaches the set temperature before pumping that now toasty warm air out. That way, you get cozy warm air at any fan speed, and don't waste power warming up a useless heat strip that will never get your air warm enough.

Low Amp Draw

A unique feature of this RecPro model RV AC unit is its remarkably low amp draw, which can not only help you lower your energy usage but allows you to use other devices while also enjoying your air conditioner at the same time. Other models with a higher amp draw may draw too much juice from the circuit, preventing other devices from getting the energy they need to function. Thus, it's easy to see how the RecPro RV air conditioner can save you power and irritation.

A Quiet Air Conditioner

The feature that users enjoy the most, however, is likely the incredibly low noise levels this air conditioner produces. Many other models of RV AC units tend to be obnoxiously loud and can make it difficult to sleep, listen to music, or watch TV. The RecPro RV air conditioner boasts remarkably low noise levels, with indoor decibel levels at high speed reaching a mere 59.1db or about the volume of a normal conversation or gentle rain.

*This AC unit requires a minimum 2500-watt generator with a dedicated 30-amp service. Using a lower-rated generator may cause difficulty when starting the AC unit or may require a soft starter.*

Ducted Information

The ducted version of this RV AC unit features overall dimensions of 13-11/16" high by 26-3/4" wide by 39-5/16" long for the outside unit and 1-11/16" high by 21-1/8" wide by 21-15/16" long for the inner plenum ceiling assembly unit. Weighing in at around 80 pounds, it is recommended that two people install this unit. Inside the ceiling assembly is a removable screen filter, which makes it easy to clean or replace.

The RecPro RV AC unit is available in black or white, so it has the ability to easily fit in with nearly any design scheme. In case of any issues, the screens on both the remote and the thermostat will provide an error code, which you can then look up in your manual to discover what the issue is and how to fix it.

This ducted RV AC unit only gets better as you move on from its external features to its internal features. For starters, this unit is able to offer both cooling and heating, making it perfect for year-round camping just about anywhere. The remote control also serves as the thermostat, and the AC unit is designed to specifically work with it, meaning the AC unit will not work with other thermostats. However, this unit will work with pre-existing ducting, so you do not need to worry about installing new ducting.

This ducted RV AC unit is controlled by either the remote control or the plenum and offers a variety of functions. These functions are cooling, heating, fan speed, dry mode, auto, temperature control, clock, timer, sleep, and lock. These various functions give you perfect control over the environment in your RV so that you may relax in perfect comfort.

Older air conditioners also have a reputation for being real hogs for power, often having a sizable power draw that takes up a lot of energy, making other accessories on the same circuit near useless, and making older ACs a poor choice for boondocking. The RecPro RV AC unit differs from other models, as it features a remarkably low max power draw of 16 amps, with the startup draw being the same as well.

Another thing to consider is the weight and size, as those two factors are among the most important when considering any kind of RV accessory or appliance. Thankfully, this RV air conditioner from RecPro offers an economical size on both the inner and outer unit and a weight that is lighter than many other models on the market. In other words, the RecPro air conditioner gives you more space on your roof and ceiling while adding less than 100 pounds of weight to your rig. However, it is important to know that this unit is designed for installation on flat roofs with less than 5 degrees inclination and a thickness between 3" and 5 ½".

It should also be noted that the fan on the heat pump is controlled via the temperature sensor located near the evaporator coils. The fan will run continuously at a low speed to modulate power consumption and optimal efficiency unless the temperature sensor reads below 64°F.

Tips

While the RecPro RV air conditioner is an efficient and powerful unit all on its own, there are things you can do to further reduce energy usage and keep your RV even cooler. Start by making sure all your doors, skylights, and windows are closed, as doing so will prevent cool air from escaping and hot air from slipping inside. Closing the curtains and opening the awning may also help keep temperatures cooler by blocking out sunlight, preventing it from heating up your interior space. To reduce energy load, switch off appliances that are unnecessary. If the unit is starting and stopping frequently, adjust the temperature instead of turning the unit off. If the temperatures are estimated to be particularly high, start the AC unit early in the morning.

There is another great tip that is not quite as widely known. When it comes to RVs, having an air conditioner is a great way to stay cool, but it can adversely affect the humidity in your space. Achieving a smooth airflow can help keep your temperatures down as well as help ensure your air is cleaner. To do so, many RVers will place a fan at one end of the RV, with the RV AC unit at the other end. The AC unit pulls fresh air in, while the fan at the other end pushes stale, stagnant, and humid air outside the RV.

Maintenance

For many people, getting an RV AC unit for their rig is a big purchase, so it would make sense that you would want to know how to keep that purchase protected and working optimally for as long as possible. A few easy maintenance steps are all it takes to help lengthen the life of your RecPro RV Air Conditioner and help it achieve optimal performance. To start with, clean the return air filter once a week using warm water and a small amount of mild detergent. Allow the filter to dry completely before reinserting it.

For the first 3 months, perform a monthly check on the bolts holding the unit to the RV, ensuring they are still tight and stable. After the first three months, you may check the bolts once a year. If you only use your RV on an occasional basis, operate the RV AC unit once every six months for 20-30 minutes.

A vacation with your RV is all about being comfortable wherever you go. With unrivaled heating and cooling capabilities in one unit, the RecPro RV Air Conditioner is an easy way to transform your rig into an oasis of comfort.
