Description

*DISCLAIMER: ROOFING SHIPS IN A BOX. IT'S IMPERATIVE TO UNPACK ROOFING MATERIAL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO AVOID CREASING*

Introducing Superflex:

*Superflex and EPDM kits DO NOT come with installation instructions. If you require installation instructions, please consult the manufacturer of the brand’s material.*

Superflex RV roofing is a redesigned coverage system that has been engineered not to chalk, fade, or leave streaks like other competitive products in the RV aftermarket industry. Compared to its peer, EPDM RV rubber roof, it is lighter in weight and still maintains its strength rating. This material is highly resistant to punctures, cracking, and tearing over and above its competitors. As a lightweight membrane it can also, over time, save on gas mileage and add to your recreational vehicle’s overall drivability, all the while maintaining seal and structural integrity. Superflex also keeps its original white color by utilizing UV blocking properties that prevent fading and shade encroachment. Superflex is also resistant to mold, fungi, and algae. Upgrade your RV roof today with the 8.5' Superflex RV roofing.

Please note that when applying your superflex roofing membrane to apply the smooth side down and the textured side up.

Recommendations for Installation:

Depending on the type of surface, your application process may differ. Here are some examples of application variation due to surface consistency:

Porous – If you have a porous surface (pitted or with holes) such as plywood or fiberboard, industry recommendations for application are to wet laminate the membrane to the substrate.

Non-porous – If both surfaces are non-porous (such as EPS or ISO) industry recommendations for application are to apply the adhesive to both surfaces (4 to 5 mils thick) and allow to dry approximately 20-30 minutes (depending on conditions.) Adhesive will turn from white to clear when it has dried. Apply membrane to roof deck and roll, or broom down, the sheet to ensure contact over the entire area.

Needs instructions, and non-leveling lap sealant

Posted by G. Kelly on Jun 5th 2018

The contents of the kit are as follows - the superflex roofing sheet. It ships folded, and you should definitely open immediately as they suggest, and let it relax on a flat surface for a few days before installation. Also, I wish they included an installation guide, or even links to online info. I found some videos that showed examples, and through watching those was able to figure it out. Sort of. I very nearly ran out of Butyl tape, and man, that stuff is hard to get off the roll. Be careful how you handle it. If you squeeze the roll at all, it'll get stuck together and become almost impossible to use. Also, the self-leveling lap sealant is extremely runny, messy, and hard to use. I can't imagine RV roofs that also don't have some curves and edges, and a non-leveling lap sealant would have come in mighty handy. Both the front and back of my RV curves down, to a vertical or almost vertical surface, at which point the self-leveling stuff just runs and drips down. Lastly, I would say the sealant takes at least 5 days to really cure and set, possibly longer, and you shouldn't attempt to drive or move your RV in the time it's drying. I tried to move mine after two days and wind got under the edges, started to rip up the roof, and made a huge mess of the semi-dry lap sealant.
Some of this is my fault, but also, not only were there no comprehensive installation instructions for the whole kit, the individual products did not have clear instructions or information on cure times. The products themselves are fine - though I think for the 15' kit it would have been good to have at least one tube of non-leveling sealant. But the lack of info makes it hard to apply and use properly, and the results less than ideal.

Great products. Included enough of materials required for my 34 foot rv. Only thing to improve upon would be some instructions on how to install the product.
